World-Class Service Since 1985

Clipper Oil is a wholesaler of marine fuels and lubricant oils specializing in supplying vessels in over 2,500 ports worldwide. Operating internationally from our headquarters in San Diego, California, USA, we serve the bunkering needs of all sectors of the marine market. This includes commercial fishing fleets, mega yachts, cruise ships, tugboats, cargo ships, container ships, military/government vessels, research vessels, power plants and service stations.

Our History

1956

A bustling port with various vessels, including a large cargo ship fueled by marine fuel, smaller fishing boats, and tugboats, with infrastructure and a coastal town in the background.

Clipper Oil’s predecessor, Tuna Clipper Marine, was founded by George Alameda and Lou Brito, two pioneers in the commercial tuna fishing industry. Tuna Clipper Marine’s first bunker supply location was in San Diego, California where they supplied the fuel and lube oil to the local tuna fishing fleets.

1985

Clipper Oil was founded, and became the principal distributor and marketing agent for marine fuel and Shell lubricant oil in Guam and American Samoa.

1990

Following the departure of the commercial fishing fleets, Tuna Clipper Marine officially shut down their San Diego facility. This allowed Clipper Oil to expand their operations into the Pacific Islands.

Present Day

Clipper Oil has expanded from a small marine distributor in San Diego, to a worldwide supplier of marine fuels and lubricants. With operational reach in over 200 countries, our comprehensive physical and trading operations are coupled with round-the-clock 24/7 customer support.
