Taking bunkers at high-seas is convenient and can save vessel owners thousands of dollars by avoiding costly port/agency/calling costs and lost travel time. The majority of the high-seas fuel tankers only supply MGO (DMA), although some of the high-seas tankers can also supply HSFO (3.5%S) and VLSFO (0.5%S).
